Overall construction spending expected to increase by more than 10% this year

Growth in residential and non-building activity will more than offset weakness in non-residential work.

“There are a number of large and medium-scaled projects going on this year, but there are also a number of celebrated mega-developments that contractors that work with these development partners are very excited about in Chicago,” says Walsh. “Lincoln Yards, the 78, the Wolf Point Tower East development, all of the things going on with Tribune Tower and Tribune printing plant redevelopment, the CTA Red and Purple Line modernization program are pretty exciting. We know what we’re going to build already for 2019 so we’re pretty content.”
