Ford Motor Co. is spending $1 billion and adding 500 more jobs at two plants in the Chicago area. The automaker will expand production of Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs and the Police Interceptor Utility vehicle. In a statement, Ford said it will add positions at its Chicago area assembly and stamping plants, bringing the total number of employees at the two facilities to 5,800. Ford is also building a new body and paint shop at the assembly plant.
