Florida Firefly Aerospace Inc. is planning to construct a launch vehicle manufacturing plant on an 18-acre site at Exploration Park and a launch facility at Space Launch Complex 20, both at Cape Canaveral. The estimated $52-million project scope includes: construction of 180,000 sq ft of building space with clean rooms; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of fuel and propellant storage tanks, a compressed air system, overhead cranes, curing ovens, laser tracking systems, and CNC milling and turning, composite fabrication, carbon fiber filament winding equipment. Mississippi Kohler Engines is planning to expand its small engine manufacturing operations in Hattiesburg. The project scope includes relocation and installation of conveyors and fabrication, welding, machining and assembly equipment. Equipment will be relocated from the company’s plant in Sheboygan, Wis., and installed in a 300,000-sq-ft building being renovated by others. Relocation is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2019. Kohler Engines, a division of Kohler Co., will produce gasoline-based twin-cylinder engines at the plant. Missouri Green Energy Sustainable Solutions is planning to construct four biogas plants in Miller and Audrain Counties. Each project scope includes construction of building space, anaerobic digestion and gas holding tanks; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of mixing, conveying, gas separation and purification equipment. The plants will each have the capacity to process 170,000 tons of swine waste and 80,000 tons of green biomass per year to produce 550,000 MMbtu of methane gas per year. Symbiont Science, Engineering and Construction and Nelson Engineering Inc. have been selected to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the projects.
