In November, Hughes General Contractors lifted the tallest tilt-up panels in Utah at the $33-million Alta High School project in Sandy. The tallest panel stands at 75 ft, 8 in., breaking the previous state record by 9 ft, 2 in. The 65 panels for the new auditorium and performing arts center average more than 72 ft tall and 11 in. thick. The renovation, designed by VCBO for the Canyons School District, also includes office relocations, lighting improvements, a kitchen redesign and upgrades to the site, music rooms, HVAC and mechanical, bus drop-off areas and restrooms. The renovated areas will total 80,000 sq ft when completed in December 2021.
