GEORGIA The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is planning to construct the Southeast Rome Bypass, a 4.6-mile-long rural four-lane roadway, divided by a 44-ft-wide grassed median with 10-ft-wide outside shoulders of which 6.5 ft will be paved. It begins at State Route 101 and ends at the State Route 1 Loop (existing East Rome Bypass.) There are bridges proposed over Callier Springs Road and over U.S. Route 411/State Route 20. A diamond interchange is proposed at U.S. Route 411/State Route 20. Also included is the reconstruction of 5,500 ft of State Route 101 from a two-lane rural to a four-lane urban curb and gutter section with a 20-ft raised median, sidewalks and bike lanes. IDAHO Union Pacific Railroad is planning to build the Meadow Creek Siding on the Spokane Subdivision near Meadow Creek. The siding will give the railroad the flexibility to run longer trains and support increasing traffic to and from the Eastport gateway. The project is valued between $25 million and $50 million. SOUTH DAKOTA The City of Sioux Falls is planning a main pump station replacement at its sewer plant. NEW YORK Holt Industrial Services Inc. and Scrufari Construction Co., as design-build partners, have started construction of a new intermodal passenger station in downtown Buffalo. The three-story Exchange Street Station will be located on the footprint of the existing Amtrak station, but will be twice as large. It will be elevated and located closer to the street than the existing station. It will serve Amtrak as well as intercity buses and will connect to Buffalo’s new light-rail system through a covered pedestrian plaza. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2020.
