Kansas The City of Olathe is planning to carry out an improvement to its water system. The project involves installing four miles of 12-in.-dia distribution water main along Lone Elm Road to 159th Street, then along 159th Street to North Loop Road at the current New Century Airport Connection. The improvements include the installation of a water booster pump station needed to meet the minimum fire flow requirements of 20 psi in the southwest portion of the city and allow for new growth along 159th Street. Minnesota The Excelsior Group, LLC is planning to develop Anton Village, a residential development in Saint Michael. The 160-acre development will be located at the northeast corner of County Road 119 and Jamison Avenue. It will include 328 single family homes, a 15-acre park that will serve as an extension to Gutzwiller Park, and soccer and baseball fields. The owner will also act as the general contractor. Washington HiTest Silicon Inc. is planning to construct the HiTest Sands Silicon Smelter in Addy. The smelter will contain two 40-MW furnaces and will produce between 55,000 and 60,000 tons of silicon per year for use in solar panels. The smelter will be built at the 192-acre former Northwest Alloys plant site. Clark Builders and Turner Construction Co. have been selected as general contractors. West Virginia The Milton Municipal Utilities Commission is planning to construct a floodwall in Milton, to lessen the danger of flooding by the Mud River. The project will entail constructing 8,000 ft of floodwall, a gate closure and two pump stations. 135 tracts of real estate will need to be acquired: 35 for construction and the remainder for easements to allow periodic ponding of water after storms. Hawaii The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded a $12.7 million firm-fixed-price task order under a previously awarded construction contract to Elite Pacific Construction Inc., to overhaul the Drydock No. 2 intermediate caisson at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.The work will include ultrasonic testing of the caisson structural members and plating, including, but not limited to, plating of the entire hull, top deck (weather deck), machinery deck, internal strength decks, bulkheads including breast hooks, ballast tank and machinery deck internal structural members such as stiffeners, truss frame members and seachests/ballast piping seaward of the first closure valve. Other repair scope items include sandblasting and preserving interior and exterior surfaces of the caisson, including the weather deck; cleaning, priming and painting all interior and exterior surfaces of the caisson; removing existing non-skid coating from the weather deck; and installing industrial strength adhesive-type non-skid surface material on the weather deck and machinery deck.
