Georgia Buckhead Community Improvement District is planning to construct Buckhead Park on a deck over Georgia State Route 400 in Atlanta. The nine-acre greenspace will stretch a half mile from the Peachtree Road overpass to Lenox Road. The concept’s designers are Rogers Partners, and the landscape design is being done by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects. The project is valued at $250 million. North Dakota Valley City State University is planning to build a 53,000-sq-ft Communications and Fine Arts Building on the campus in Valley City. Utah The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is planning to construct a temple in Saratoga Springs. The three-story, 87,000-sq-ft building will be located at the intersection of Redwood Road and Meadow Side Drive. It is being designed by CRSA Architects. Wisconsin Ascendant Holdings LLC is planning to convert and expand the existing three-story Humphrey Scottish Rite Masonic Center building in Milwaukee into the 14-story, 75,000-sq-ft, 220-room Provenance Hotel, with convention and restaurant space. The existing building was constructed as a church in 1889 before becoming a Masonic facility in 1912. The hotel is being designed by Kraig Kalashian Architecture & Design and Metro Studio. North Carolina The Tennessee Valley Authority has awarded a $2-million contract to Nicholson Construction Co. for anchor work on the Fontana Dam. The work entails de-tensioning 582 previously installed, post-tensioned bar anchors. The decommissioned anchor holes will then be flushed and grouted. This work is one component of an ongoing repair project, following internal erosion that was discovered at the dam in 2014. Tennessee The Town of Smyrna has awarded a $27.5-million contract to Judy Construction Co. to upgrade and expand its wastewater treatment plant. The expansion will increase the capacity from 5.85 mgd to 9.0 mgd. The expansion will consist of upgrading the existing headworks with new screens, upgrading the existing raw water pump station with new larger pumps, constructing a new anaerobic basin with a flow splitter box, retrofitting the six existing oxidation basins, constructing a new oxidation basin, constructing a new clarifier splitter box, constructing two new clarifiers, constructing a new tertiary filter structure, upgrading the existing ultraviolet light disinfection facility, removing an in-line filter and installing a third reuse water pump in the reuse water pumping station, installing a rotary drum sludge thickener and digester decanter at the digester building, removing the existing belt presses and installing two new centrifuges at the dewatering building.
