Border States Electric is a product and supply-chain powerhouse in the electrical, utility and industrial industries. The company’s 120,000-sq-ft multistory Branch Support Center consolidated employees who were previously located in multiple buildings. It provides support to branch facilities nationwide, houses more than 500 employees and can expand as the company continues to grow. The center’s layout is open and filled with natural light. Offices and cubicles were designed on a smaller scale to encourage use of conference rooms, meeting spaces and breakout areas—thus promoting collaboration among employees. Technology is incorporated throughout the building, with ample video-conferencing capabilities and many large, flat-screen TVs. Clear glass walls turn opaque for privacy with the flick of a switch. An onsite studio is also available to record company videos.
