Alabama The Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority is planning to renovate and expand Legacy Arena in Birmingham. The project involves a south side expansion, including a new lobby, ticketing, and entry points from the renovated plaza, including a grand stair and escalators to the main concourse. There also will be an extensive renovation to the arena seating bowl, including replacement of all existing seats, the addition of new premium suites, club seating and a new upper concourse on the south end of the building. Arizona The City of Phoenix is planning to carry out a wastewater interceptor capacity improvement program. The program will entail construction of approximately 2.3 miles of pipelines paralleling the existing interceptor. The consulting engineer is Black & Veatch. Iowa The cities of Le Mars and Merrill are planning to construct the PlyWood Trail. The 16-mile trail will link existing trails in Le Mars and Sioux City, passing through the villages of Merrill and Hinton. Construction is expected to start in 2020 and be completed by 2025. Nevada Anand Milan LLC is planning to develop Anand Milan, a gated community for independent seniors (55+), on an 11.6-acre site at the corner of Lone Mountain and Simmons Street in North Las Vegas. It will include 96 single family townhomes and a 10,000-sq-ft clubhouse containing a community dining hall, library, meditation room and gym. In addition there will be a pool and community garden. District of Columbia Kinsley Construction Inc. has started work on the Grimke School redevelopment project. Phase 1 includes the adaptive reuse of the 132-year-old Grimke School building into a 65,000-sq-ft office and cultural arts space, containing the 12,000-sq-ft African American Civil War Museum; offices for Torti Gallas + Partners, the project architect; and 24,000-sq-ft of leased office space. Additionally, it will involve construction of a new six-story, 30-unit condo building, The Fold. Phase 2 involves converting the school gym into 40 additional apartments. Florida The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded a $55.9 million firm-fixed-price contract to Korte Construction Co. to design and build a new Navy Gateway Inn and Suites at Naval Air Station Key West. Arkansas 11/19 MW Builders, Inc., the general contractor, is seeking subcontractor bidders to construct The Marshall, a 226-unit student housing facility at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. The seven-story, 296,000-sq-ft building will be located on South Razorback Road. The project is valued at between $25 million and $50 million. Pennsylvania 12/12 The Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to carry out improvements to the Betsy Ross Bridge in Philadelphia. The project entails removing and replacing the Ramp A bridge over Frankford Creek, and removing and replacing the Ramp B bridge over Interstate 95 and Conrail, for a total of seven new bridges and two new retaining walls. Construction is expected to start in February 2020 and be completed by September 2023. The project is valued at between $90 million and $100 million.
