Foxconn Technology Group in September named Mortenson as the construction manager for upcoming projects at its Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park in Mt. Pleasant, Wis. Mortenson will work with the technology manufacturer to build a smart manufacturing center and a high-performance computing data center. The smart manufacturing center will be a 260,000-sq-ft facility that will primarily manufacture components for server racks. The data center will include a 34,250-sq-ft building next to a 100-ft-tall network operations center globe. In addition to the two buildings, other structures constructed or under construction at the campus include a multipurpose building, a power substation and the 1-million-sq-ft Gen 6 Fab facility. The Gen 6 plant can make screens ranging in size from a smartphone to a 75-in. television. Last year, Foxconn selected Gilbane Building Co. of Providence, R.I., and Germany’s M+W Group as the joint venture general contractor for the $10 billion plant.
