Washington EDF Renewable Energy is planning to construct the Goldendale Pumped Storage Project. The project entails building two reservoirs—a lower reservoir located 8 miles south of Golden­dale near the Columbia River and an upper reservoir on a bluff 2,400 ft above it—and an underground pipeline connecting the two, plus a pump station and three turbines. It will employ energy generated by wind turbines to pump the water uphill. Its generating capacity will be 1,200 MW. Rye Development LLC has been selected as the designer. Wyoming CoreCivic is planning to construct an ICE immigration detention center in Evanston. The 300,000-sq-ft building will hold a total of 1,000 detainees and include administration offices, medical facilities, a gym, a commissary, classrooms, a library, a courtroom, and a visiting area. The facility will have multiple layers of fencing and 18-ft-high walls. Pods will hold 40 beds each, with separate sections for men and women. Butler Cohen has been selected as the design-builder. California The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded a $123.6-million firm-fixed-price contract to Walsh Federal, LLC, to construct a three-bay aircraft maintenance hangar with adjoining single-story structures containing a hydraulic shop, electro-environmental shop, general maintenance shops and administration/support areas, at Travis Air Force Base. Missouri McCarthy HITT, JV has begun construction of the National Geospatial Agency headquarters in St. Louis. The project is also known as the Next NGA West (or N2W). It is being built on a 97-acre site at the intersection of North Jefferson and Cass Aves. in the St. Louis Place neighborhood of north St. Louis and will replace the current NGA facility located south of downtown. It is a design-build joint venture that includes McCarthy Building Cos, HITT Contracting, Inc., Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp., Gensler and Akima, LLC. The project entails building a 700,000-sq-ft main operations building, a 40,000-sq-ft central utilities plant, two parking garages totaling 992,000 sq ft and a 7,300-sq-ft visitors center.
