Galaxy Builders recently partnered with Prospera Housing Community Services and the city of Corpus Christi, Texas, in the rehabilitation of an affordable housing project.

TEXO and AIA Dallas sponsored the 2019 Bark + Build pet house design/build competition to benefit SPCA of Texas. Professional teams consisting of architects and contractors created working models. Completed designs were displayed at NorthPark Center in Dallas during the second half of November, and winners were announced on Dec. 12 at TEXO’s annual holiday party. All the pet houses were judged for design and construction quality, then auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the SPCA of Texas.

CallisonRTKL designed a doghouse that was digitally fabricated using 3D-printed modules and then added more than 1,000 tennis balls. This “Fetch House” won Best of Show. The balls, which are held in place by compression, can be pulled out for a round of fetch and then reinserted. The design allows the owner to remove balls randomly or create unique patterns which allow more light or air to filter into the doghouse.

Brasfield & Gorrie’s Dallas team members helped sort and box shoes for Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, which is Buckner International’s largest humanitarian aid project. The organization provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world. Young professionals at E.E. Reed recently participated in ABC Houston’s Annual Bike Build event at NRG Center. E.E. Reed’s team built 33 bikes, and the organization delivered a total of 5,000 bikes to children across the greater Houston area.

Galaxy Builders recently partnered with Prospera Housing Community Services and the city of Corpus Christi, Texas, in the rehabilitation of an affordable housing project. Spanning across six buildings, the property will provide a clubhouse, community center, pool and playground. Services to the community will include after school tutoring for children, enrichment activities and youth mentoring along with adult education courses, GED courses and transportation assistance.
