Burns & McDonnell is nearing completion on a $42-million, four-story office building at its 34-acre, Kansas City, Mo., campus. The 142,000-sq-ft building will house 780 people, increasing the size of the Burns & McDonnell world headquarters in suburban Kansas City by 22%.
“We actually use this project as an example to show clients how open office spaces can work,” says Brittney Swartz, a project manager and landscape architect at Burns & McDonnell.
Chicago Transit Holds Open House for Red/Purple Line Project
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) began construction on the Lawrence to Bryn Mawr (LBM) Modernization Project, a segment of the CTA’s $2.1-billion Red/Purple Line modernization. Construction began near the CTA’s Belmont station in October. Public meetings were held in the Edgewater neighborhood ahead of construction between Thorndale and Montrose avenues. Completion is expected in 2024.
Walsh Construction Receives Preservation Award for Cook County Hospital Project
The co-chairmen of the Walsh Group, Matthew Walsh and Daniel J. Walsh, accepted a Legendary Landmark Award from Landmarks Illinois on March 5 at the Hilton Chicago as part of the group’s 2020 Legendary Landmarks Celebration event. Chicago improv legend and former Saturday Night Live cast member Tim Kazurinsky served as the master of ceremonies. The Walsh Group is the general contractor on the renovation and reconstruction of the Old Cook County Hospital project.
