Mortenson started turbine erection in August at PacifiCorp’s $406-million Pryor Mountain wind project near Bridger, Mont. The project will consist of four GE turbines and 110 Vestas turbines totaling 240 MW of renewable energy. Mortenson’s project team mobilized in March 2020. The scope of work includes public road improvements, creation of access roads to each turbine site, foundations, substation, operations and maintenance building and meteorological evaluation towers towers. At peak construction, approximately 300 people will be employed on site at Pryor Mountain. The project is estimated to complete in December. When completed, the site will power roughly 76,000 homes. The Pryor Mountain project will increase the state’s installed wind capacity by 30%. Upon completion, Mortenson will have constructed 76% of all wind energy in Montana. In 2019, Oregon-based PacifiCorp said it planned to add 7,000 MW of renewable energy to it portfolio by 2025.
