This bank branch project in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, was definitely a multinational effort. The contractor on the project is from China, the lead design firm is from France, the structural engineer is from Tunisia and the civil and mechanical-electrical-plumbing engineer is from Cameroon.
The 62.5-m-tall office building has energy saving and environmental protection features, including temperature control and power-supply switching. The concrete pumping technology was a first for the Central African Republic and accelerated the construction work, according to the contractor. The company also says that the pumping system's performance was improved by importing concrete admixtures from China. The building's security elements include bulletproof doors and windows and bulletproof curtain wall at the entrance. The contractor says that local materials were scarce, so everything except gravel and sand was imported.
