Constructed under the N. Houston Development Corp.’s beautification program, the $25-million Rockstar Energy Bike Park is the largest bike park in North America. The 22-acre BMX and mountain bike facility features more than 10 attractions, including red-clay racetracks, street courses, a performance pavilion and wooded bike trails. The design utilizes space below one of the entrance ramps, something the team claims has never been done before on a bike track in the U.S. The space below the ramp houses a concession stand, office and storage space. Designed in a floodplain, the 100% permeable parking lot allows for stormwater storage. The team also preserved more than 300 trees and planted more than 400 trees.
