Completed in August 2019, this sports facility in Bullhead City can seat 4,500 people for large events and is flexible enough to host smaller classroom sessions and conference and community functions.
The 122,500-sq-ft building is inspired by the natural and human history of this Colorado River community. The design celebrates the flow of water and the erosive forces of carving and striation. The irregular textures of the metal panel building’s cladding recall stratification in the nearby mountains, and light-absorbing polycarbonate panels reflect the precious metals that lie below the ground and that attracted early settlers. Deep overhangs also provide comfort from the desert sun.
To ensure a correct fit on site, the two companies building the premanufactured field house and bleachers had to work closely together. Their collaboration ensured a high level of quality throughout the project, including installation of custom wood and metal components.
