Over nearly two years, JE Dunn Construction provided site improvements, renovation of nine buildings and an addition at Tarpon Springs High School without disturbing ongoing activities at the school. The $18-million project also created a new home at the front of the campus for the school’s Leadership Conservatory for the Arts. Starting in the summer of 2018, crews performed extensive site improvements, renovated the science classroom building and demolished two buildings in the middle of campus, creating a new courtyard area. Following its summer 2018 work, the team spent nine months constructing a new building for the conservatory. The 12,261-sq-ft building provided new classrooms and teacher workspaces. To further support the music and arts programs at the school, the existing multipurpose room and gymnasium were also fully renovated while the new addition was being constructed. The school district accepted 18 scope modifications that were presented by JE Dunn, ultimately saving the district money without removing functionality from the project. Despite late scope additions by the owner and delays caused by unforeseen sub-surface conditions, the project was completed below budget and one month ahead of schedule.
