Located adjacent to the Inman Park MARTA station in Atlanta, the $5.7-million, two-story performing arts and instructional dance center includes dance studio classrooms and a performing arts theater. Structor Group worked closely with the owner and architect to create a conceptual budget that guided initial fundraising efforts. As the project continued to develop, the general contractor recruited subcontractors and vendors that were willing to supply services at discounted costs. Structor Group signed a contract that stipulated no fees would be charged for the first $100,000 in change orders. In the end, neither the general contractor nor architect Perkins & Will charged a fee for any change order. The project utilized exterior panels made in Germany, which were shipped to Savannah before arriving at Atlanta. Each panel was custom made and took two months to install due to the lengthy delivery time. The one-year project was completed on time and on budget with no lost-time accidents and no OSHA recordable incidents.
