Idaho Treasure Valley Renewable Resources is planning to construct a sorghum and biogas manufacturing facility in Parma. One part of the plant will turn sorghum into pulp, which will be turned into paper plates and other food-packaging products. Louisiana The Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority is planning to carry out the restoration of Maurepas Swamp in St. John the Baptist Parish. The project entails constructing a 5.5-mile-long diversion channel near Garyville to bring fresh water and sediment from the Mississippi River to the 45,000-acre swamp. It also includes the construction of three 10-ft by 10-ft box culverts in the Mississippi River Levee and road and railroad crossings. It is being designed by AECOM. Utah Extell Development Co. is planning to build the Military Conference Hotel at Mayflower in Park City. The 12-story, 615,000-sq-ft, 388-room hotel will be located on a five-acre parcel that Extell, doing business as EX Utah Development, donated to the Military Industrial Development Authority. Located at the eastern edge of Deer Valley Resort, the hotel will have a direct lift connection to the top of Deer Valley’s Sultan chairlift. Virginia Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is planning to build a distribution center in Ashland. The single-story, 1,034,616-sq-ft high bay warehouse will include an office area, guard shack, security fencing and an insulated metal panel exterior. It is being designed by Providence Engineering Corp., and Whiting Turner Contracting Co. has been chosen as the general contractor. The project is valued at $175 million. Florida Condotte America Inc. has started constructing the 2,800-acre C-139 Flow Equalization Basin in Hendry County. The project includes construction of 8.78 miles of perimeter embankments, 2.35 miles of interior embankments, 3.78 miles of seepage canal, 0.53 mile of inflow/spreader canal and 0.77 mile of outflow collection canal. A 690-cu-ft-per-second (cfs) inflow pump station will allow water to be pumped into the basin. The project was designed by Arcadis US Inc., and the project owner is the South Florida Water Management District. The project is valued at $79.9 million. Rhode Island Cardi Corp. has started carrying out a runway reconstruction project at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick. The project entails reconstructing 4,700-ft-long Runway 16-34, which is currently 150 ft wide with 15-ft-wide paved shoulders. The finished runway will have 25-ft-wide shoulders. The existing bituminous concrete layer and underlying portland cement concrete pavement layer will be removed, and the pavement section will be reconstructed with new subbase course, base course and bituminous concrete layers. Texas 2/1 The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs is seeking bidders to carry out an upgrade project at the central utility plant for the Dallas campus of the VA North Texas Health Care System. The work includes installing an additional 1,500-ton chiller and underground connections from this equipment to the cooling towers. The work includes removal of four existing field-erected cooling towers. It also includes the addition of six prepackaged stainless-steel cooling towers and installing them on existing and extended concrete basins. Also included is the addition of basin sweepers with centrifugal separators for the new cooling tower cells. The project is valued at between $10 million and $20 million. Pennsylvania 2/17 The Allegheny County Sanitary Authority is seeking bidders to construct the east headworks. The work entails installing a 120-in.-dia conduit between the main pumping station and the east headworks; six mechanically cleaned bar racks and screenings conveying; six aerated grit tanks; and grit pumping and concentrating equipment.
