Sundt Construction is currently expanding the Gila River Hotel & Casinos-Wild Horse Pass for the Gila River Indian Community in Chandler, Ariz. The $143-million construction manager at-risk project includes a 165,000-sq-ft, 11-story tower that will connect to the property’s existing hotel. The 150-ft tower will have 205 guest rooms, for a total of 447 guest rooms on the property.
“I was on site at Wild Horse Pass, grabbing general progress shots. What I saw while exploring and what I liked about this shot was how your eyes are drawn to the craftworker and how he’s giving you the peace sign,” says Brown, who took the shot with a Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 24-70mm lens. “Nine out of 10 times when I hold the camera up and either wave or put up two fingers, [workers] will smile or wave back.”
The project team celebrated the topping out of the 11-story tower in January, and work is expected to wrap up this fall.
