Nexus Fuels LLC is planning to expand its 50-tons-per-day plastic waste pyrolysis plant in Atlanta. The project scope includes construction of a spill containment system and equipment foundations; installation of pyrolysis reactors; and purchase and installation of process vessels and a rotary dryer. Wood Group PLC has been selected to provide civil/structural engineering support services and may assist with contractor selection. Nexus Fuels is performing design engineering and equipment procurement in-house for the project. Construction is expected to begin late in the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2022. ILLINOIS and LOUISIANA
Bunge North America is planning to expand soybean processing capacity at its plants in Cairo, Ill. and Destrehan, La. The project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel and storage tanks; and purchase and installation of handling, processing and packaging equipment. The expansion will increase processing capacity at each plant from 7,000 tons of soybeans per day to 14,000 tons per day to produce oil for use as renewable feedstock for diesel and jet fuel. The project will be a joint venture between Chevron Corporation and Bunge North America. The estimated EPC cost is $600 million. Hughes Energy Group is planning to construct a biofuel pellet plant on a 15-acre site at the former Green-Del Sanitation solid waste transfer station in Grand Gorge. The project scope includes construction of a 115,000-sq-ft processing building and a 9,500-sq-ft administration building; installation of steam boilers; and purchase and installation of solid waste sorting, steam treatment, autoclave loading, separation, screening, drying, and pelletizing equipment. The plant will have the capacity to process 175,000 tons of organic solid waste per year. Hughes Energy’s UK-based affiliate, Wilson Bio-Chemical Ltd., is providing process technology for the project. H2M architects + engineers is providing architectural and design engineering services and Turner Construction Company has been selected as the general contractor.
