FLORIDA 

Plaza Construction has started building 1 Southside Park, a mixed-use project in Miami. It will consist of two 64-story buildings, totaling 2.48 million sq ft. It will contain 1,195 apartments; a 200-room, 110,000-sq-ft hotel; 165,000 sq ft of office space; 100,000 sq ft of health and wellness facility space; 2,300 sq ft of restaurant space; and 1,000 parking spaces. The project has been designed by ShoP Architects and O’Donnell Dannwolf & Partners/Spire Corp. The project owner is JDS Development Group. The project is valued at $1 billion. FLORIDA

Lennar Homes LLC is planning to develop the Wellness Way subdivision on 15,471 acres located east of U.S. Route 27 and south of State Road 50 in Lake County. It will include a town center and four additional land-use categories, each with different density requirements. GEORGIA

The Centers for Disease Control is planning to construct the new High Containment Continuity Laboratory on its Roybal Campus in Atlanta. The three-story, 175,000-sq-ft building will be a biosafety Level-4 facility, featuring high-efficiency particulate air-filtered supply and exhaust air, air pressure resistant doors, pressure cascade zoning, effluent collection and treatment, pressure decay tested coatings and penetrations, and high purity breathing air and chemical decontamination showers for research staff. The new facility will connect with the existing campus utility systems with below-grade utility tunnels and a two-level bridge connection.  Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the summer or fall of 2022. GEORGIA

Wellstar Health System is planning to build the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital Tower in Marietta. The seven-story building will contain 61 acute care beds. The project includes the demolition of the existing Baird Building. The new building  is being designed by HKS Inc., and JE Dunn Construction Co. has been chosen as the general contractor. NORTH CAROLINA

Ulliman Schutte Construction LLC has begun carrying out the modernization of the R.W. Neilson Water Treatment Plant in Clemmons. The project entails dewatering and cleaning of existing raw water reservoirs; modifications to existing raw water junction box and raw water booster pumping station; modifications to the existing Neilson 1/2 Building including administration area, raw water meter vault, rapid mix and flocculation basins, sedimentation basins, filters, and piping. NORTH CAROLINA

Stiles Corp. has begun constructing the East West Station office tower at 110 East Blvd. in Charlotte. The 23-story, 385,000-sq-ft building will contain 11,000 sq ft of retail space. SOUTH CAROLINA

Greenville Technical College is planning to build the College Arts & Sciences Building. The three-story, 125,000-sq-ft building will contain classrooms, faculty offices, science labs, a medical imaging lab and a black box theater. It is being designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architects and Harper General Contractors has been selected as the construction manager. SOUTH CAROLINA

Parkway Group is planning to develop Waterway Hills Village at Grand Dunes North, a gated community in North Myrtle Beach. It will include 900 single-family homes and a 7,000-sq-ft clubhouse.
