The National Western Center is planning to build an equestrian center that includes 486,600 sq ft of enclosed equestrian facilities and 39,840 sq ft of covered open-air facilities of pre-engineered metal building construction, as well as a subgrade (walkout type) parking garage with 1,050 parking spaces. Additionally, the project encompasses a 4,500-seat equestrian events center, a 500-seat equestrian show arena, a 220,000-sq-ft horse barn, two enclosed paddocks (56,000 sq ft), and two covered, open-air practice areas (39,840 sq ft). It has been designed by Populous Architects PC, and Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. has been chosen as the construction manager. The project is valued at between $110 million and $120 million. DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

Clark Construction Group LLC is currently evaluating submitted subcontractor bids for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Northern Bus Garage replacement project. The project entails demolishing the existing garage while preserving the facade, and constructing a two-story, 738,000-sq-ft facility, which will include 55,000 sq ft of retail space. It has been designed by Beyer Blinder Belle. Construction is expected to start in April 2022 and be completed by July 2026. The project is valued at between $300 million and $400 million. IDAHO

Jordan Wilcomb Construction and Global Senior Housing are planning to develop the Eighth Street Senior Housing Apartments in Boise. The 12-story building will contain 160 market-rate units on seven floors for people ages 55 and older, as well as 20,000 sq ft of space for commercial and retail and four floors of parking. Buc-ee’s Ltd. is planning a Buc-ee’s Mega Store in Pass Christian. The 80,000-sq-ft store will be located on a 43-acre parcel at the northwest corner of Menge Avenue and Interstate 10. NORTH CAROLINA

The Charlotte Water Dept. is planning to construct the Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility, a 15-million-gallon-per-day capacity wastewater treatment plant. It will treat wastewater from the Long Creek basin in Mecklenburg County and Mount Holly, and ultimately the Paw Creek basin in Mecklenburg County and Belmont. Crowder/Garney Construction Joint Venture has been chosen as the general contractor. Construction is expected to start in April 2022. The project is valued at $200 million. The project entails replacing Montana Creek Bridge, located at Milepost 96 on Parks Highway and Sheep Creek Bridge at Milepost 88, and constructing a new bridge across Goose Creek at Milepost 93. Summit Contracting Group has started constructing The Preserve at Ridgeville apartment complex in Ridgeville. 2/17 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bidders to construct a new air traffic control tower at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. The work involves construction of a reinforced concrete pile foundation and slab floor and masonry walls at the lower level, as well as an elevator, a catwalk surrounding the tower cab as well as utilities and a backup power generator. The project also includes demolition of two facilities, the existing control tower, and Building #1161. The new tower has been designed by Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.
