The Black & Veatch board of directors in Overland Park, Kan., has promoted Mario Azar to chairman and CEO. Azar, currently serving as president of energy and process industries, replaces Steve Edwards, who is retiring after 44 years. The company will name a successor to fill Azar’s current role in the near future.
George Gorrill has been promoted to vice president of STV’s Midwest business. Based in Chicago, Gorrill will lead all STV efforts in the region, including recruiting and managing talent.
The Boldt Co. in Appleton, Wis., has made several promotions. Doug Dulin has been appointed vice president of strategy development and will support Boldt’s leadership in developing organizational strategy for the construction services firm. Mark Nolta will serve as vice president of corporate estimating and preconstruction and will continue to focus on developing a unified approach that leverages people, processes and technology in preconstruction support for project teams and customers. The firm also announced that Rob Branyan has been promoted to vice president of labor relations.
Tim Gerken has been promoted to the new position of chief business officer in addition to his role as CFO of The Walsh Group in Chicago. Gerken has served as the firm’s CFO for the past 14 years. As CFO/CBO, Gerken will have increased responsibilities including providing executive leadership, strategic planning, execution and oversight of corporate administrative, financial and operations management for the company.
Bryan Dickerson has rejoined Woolpert, which has offices in Illinois, Ohio, Missouri and Indiana, as vice president and director of operations for infrastructure. Dickerson will support the infrastructure sector’s growth, strategic initiatives, operational improvements, investments and business development. Emily St. Clair, systems analyst at Woolpert, has been appointed to the Institute of Asset Management’s Subject Specific Guidelines Group 27, which has a goal of establishing guidelines on asset management leadership. IAM has a global network of more than 30,000 professionals and supports the International Organization for Standardization 55000 series and its development of international standards for asset management.
Barton Malow of Southfield, Mich., has promoted Brian Miller, Tom Garza, Dave Gregor and Joe Blanchette to vice president in their respective divisions of Barton Malow Co., the industrial entity of the Barton Malow Family of Companies. Miller is vice president of battery, and Garza is vice president of automotive and will serve on the BlueOval SK battery park team. Gregor is vice president of building trades and will lead the teams focused on civil, concrete, structural steel and general trades/interior. Blanchette is now vice president of energy.
HNTB Corp. has named David Zarowny its CREATE program manager in the firm’s Chicago office. Zarowny will manage and oversee delivery of the current and ongoing CREATE Program with the Illinois Dept. of Transportation, Class 1 railroads, Metra and the agency partners in the Chicago area.
Superior Construction of Indianapolis has promoted longtime employee Jeff Carlson to director of construction services. Carlson will manage labor relations, collective bargaining negotiations, man-hour allocations and workplace development across the Midwest.
