HNTB Corp. has named Reza Akhavan its new office leader in Denver. A veteran engineer and transportation expert, Akhavan brings more than 30 years of experience in planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance and program management of transportation projects. Akhavan joined HNTB in August 2020 as transportation practice leader in Colorado. Before that, he served as an adviser and program manager to RTD’s FasTracks program and oversaw major projects that included Denver International Airport’s Concourse Expansion project and CDOT’s Central 70 project.
Flintco LLC has promoted Steve Eikanger to president. Eikanger joined Flintco in 2018 as vice president and area manager in Denver and was promoted to president of the firm’s Southwest region in 2020.
Hensel Phelps has promoted RJ Barron to general superintendent. His portfolio with Hensel Phelps includes more than $1.5 billion of work throughout his 22-year career. He is building Meta’s Kuna Data Center project in Kuna, Idaho.
The Denver Housing Authority has hired Erin Clark as chief real estate investment officer. Clark joins DHA from her most recent position as vice president of master site development with the Denver-based Urban Land Conservancy. Prior to her time at ULC, Clark worked for two local law firms and served in the planning and development department for the city of Pasadena, Calif.
Kirk Monroe has been named the new Rocky Mountain regional president for Ryan Cos. US. Monroe has 29 years of experience in the banking services industry. He most recently served as executive vice president and director of banking services at Vectra Bank Colorado. In addition, Mark Beal was appointed as the firm’s vice president of construction operations. He oversees construction planning and logistics in the Rocky Mountain region.
Juanita Rodriguez is the new vice president of resident services for affordable housing nonprofit Rocky Mountain Communities, which owns and manages affordable housing communities across the state. She previously worked at Rocky Mountain SER as a project manager, head of development and corporate risk manager. She has also worked at TGS Management, ADP and the Pueblo Dept. of Public Health and Environment.
Joe Slavik, Howell Construction president, has been selected as a 2022 Titan 100 winner. The Titan 100 program recognizes Colorado’s Top 100 CEOs and C-level executives. Slavik joined Howell Construction in 1995 as vice president before moving into his current role of president in 2001.
Eric Peterson has joined CSHQA as an architect I. He has 20-plus years of experience as an architect and 14 years of construction management experience. He has worked on numerous office, retail, residential, restaurant, medical, government and industrial projects. Pamela Giguiento has joined the firm as an architect-in-training in the Denver office. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Colorado Denver in 2021. Luis Ojeda has joined the firm as a mechanical engineer-in-training. He is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Boise State University.
Burns & McDonnell has promoted Nikole Rachelson to department manager for the firm’s water group in Denver. Rachelson leads a team to design innovative community water treatment facilities.
