HAWAII

AES Hawaii LLC is considering repowering its 180-MW Barbers Point power plant in Kapolei on the Island of O’ahu, from coal-fired to biomass-fired. The project scope includes design and construction of wood pellet handling and processing facilities and a fuel yard; purchase and erection of structural steel; retrofit or replacement of the boiler; purchase and installation of conveyors and air-emissions control equipment. MINNESOTA

Myplas USA Inc. is planning to establish a plastic film recycling facility in Rogers. The project scope includes renovation of 170,000 sq ft of space in a 400,000-sq-ft building; installation of processing lines with sorting, grinding, washing and extrusion equipment. OHIO

Newpoint Gas LLC is planning to construct a blue hydrogen production  and hydrogen-fired power plant at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in Piketon. The project scope includes design and construction of building space, connector pipelines, fabrication and erection of storage tanks; and purchase and installation of an air separation unit, and a syngas reformer. The plant will process natural gas to produce hydrogen and have the capacity to generate 300 MW of electric power. Construction is expected to begin in 2024 following acquisition of the site from Southern Ohio Diversification Initiative. The estimated EPC cost is $400 million.
