The city of Phoenix Housing Dept. and Native American Connections Inc. are planning to develop The Moreland housing complex. The five-story building will include 237 apartments and a four-tier parking garage on a 2.72-acre site at 1125 N. Third St. It is being designed by SPS+ Architects LLC. IOWA
Apple Inc. is planning to develop a data center campus in Waukee. Phase 1 will entail four buildings: a 315,800-sq-ft data center, a 63,300-sq-ft office and administration building, a 10,500-sq-ft maintenance building and an 8,800-sq-ft network distribution building. Corgan Associates Inc. has been chosen as the architect and Turner Construction as the general contractor. Construction is expected to start in September 2022. Ultimately the campus will consist of six data center buildings totaling 1.97 million sq ft, across a 2,000-acre site. The project is valued at $1.375 billion. LOUISIANA
The Louisiana Dept. of Transportation and Development has chosen three contractors to submit design-build proposals for the Jimmie Davis Bridge project in Shreveport. The firms include Gilchrist Construction Co., James Construction Group and Yates-Jensen, a joint venture. The project involves building a new four-lane bridge across the Red River. Also, Jimmie Davis Highway will be reconstructed from the east end of the bridge to Barksdale Boulevard into a four-lane, median-divided highway, providing a full-access interchange between Louisiana Highway 511 and Arthur Ray Teague Parkway. Additionally, the proposals may also include rehabilitating the old bridge to provide a linear park connecting the existing bicycle and pedestrian trails on either side of the river. NEBRASKA
Mutual of Omaha is planning to build a new headquarters. The 800,000-sq-ft building will include a 2,200-space parking garage and be located at 215 S. 15th St. in Omaha. Kendall/ Heaton Associates has been selected as the architect, and JE Dunn Construction as the general contractor. The project is valued at $600 million. RHODE ISLAND
The University of Rhode Island is planning to renovate a number of historic quad buildings on its South Kingstown campus. Phase 1 will provide restoration of Edwards Hall, East Hall and Washburn Hall, which were erected between 1909 and 1928; exterior improvements on Bliss and Ranger Halls; and an enabling renovation of Morrill Hall.
