Contour Engineering, a Universal Engineering Services company, has hired David Knotts as principal for business development and George Harrison as group manager for non-destructive testing, both based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
Knotts brings 19 years of experience in development and construction in both office and retail development working for Cousins Properties, Sembler Co. and Portman Holdings. Harrison brings 29 years of experience in the Atlanta market, including project guidance for large national clients like Home Depot, Walmart, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and Costco.
Employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm Terracon has named John Norwood its national manager for materials technology and innovation, responsible for partnering with Terracon’s operations and service line leaders to explore future technology needs and drive technology adoptions. Norwood, based in Terracon’s Raleigh office, has more than 14 years of experience.
National contractor Suffolk has promoted Jessica Chen to vice president in the Southeast region, based in Miami. Chen will provide direction in both the preconstruction and construction phases of projects in the South Florida market.
Suffolk also announced the hiring of Maureen Henson as vice president of people and culture for the Southeast, based in the firm’s Miami office, where she will work to increase Suffolk’s commitment to the employee experience, project standards, engagement, retention and high-performance culture.
International design, engineering and project management firm Atkins has appointed Donna Huey as chief digital officer for engineering services for the U.S., based in the Orlando office. In this new role, Huey will support the planning and delivery of client programs that improve decision-making through digital insights and innovation. Huey has been with Atkins for 29 years in multiple roles.
Engineering and professional services firm WSP USA has promoted Jerry Jannetti to Southeast region president, based in Florida. He will provide leadership for the transportation, buildings, energy, environment, water and advisory markets in the region.
Charles “Chip” Conrad has been promoted to executive vice president of Collins Engineers. Conrad will be responsible for managing and developing Collins’ regional offices, divisions and technical staff. Conrad joined Collins in 1996, progressing through several engineering roles.
Tim Weeks has been promoted to senior vice president, division manager for Collins Engineers’ Southeast division. He will be responsible for managing and growing the division’s offices and technical staff. Weeks joined Collins in 2008, most recently serving as regional manager of the Virginia office since 2015.
Kaufman Lynn Construction has named Christopher Christy to its leadership team as vice president of preconstruction. Christy will be responsible for overseeing the estimating staff and leading estimating efforts on all Florida and North Carolina projects, estimating department employee training and budget controls.
Family-owned infrastructure contractor Superior Construction has hired James Lapp for its newly created role of division manager for transit. Lapp will develop and pursue large-scale transit and transportation projects across the Southeast and beyond. He is based in Superior’s Jacksonville, Fla., office.
