Urschel Laboratories Inc. is planning to expand its food cutting equipment manufacturing plant at the Coffee Creek Center in Chesterton. The project scope includes construction of a 115,000-sq-ft building and purchase and installation of fabrication, welding, machining, assembly and testing equipment. Tonn and Blank Construction has been selected to provide design and construction management services for the project. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022. The plant will produce commercial potato chip slicers, high-capacity cheese shredders, meat and poultry dicers, and other cutting machinery. The estimated EPC cost is $33 million. KANSAS

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is planning to upgrade its rubber tire manufacturing plant in Topeka. The curing press and mixer modification project scope includes modifications to an existing mixer, and purchase and installation of a dust collector, 18 medium radial truck tire curing presses, an MRT tire building machine, an MRT automatic green tire spray booth and a dynamic balance machine. UTAH

TomCo Energy plc and its Greenfield Energy subsidiary are planning to construct an oil extraction plant at a 760-acre oil sands site in Vernal. The Greenfield Oil Sand Remediation Plant project scope includes construction of a building and equipment foundations, and purchase and installation of storage tanks and modular systems including crushing equipment, a rotary mixer, a mud screen, a separator, a centrifuge, a hydrocyclone, a solvent splitter, a sand dryer and a crude refining tower. The plant will have the capacity to extract 5,000 barrels of oil per day from processing oil sands and also recover silica and fracking, well, building and industrial sand. Valkor LLC has been selected to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. Construction is expected to begin in late 2022, following final funding and permitting approvals. The estimated EPC cost is $150 million.
