The Fort Worth commercial construction market is robust, says Baxley. “Fort Worth is a very competitive marketplace in the public works project sector, and indicators point to it to continue to be so.”
Fortunately, the local industry performed well through the pandemic because construction remained an essential industry in Texas and was not shut down, he explains. Major issues include the availability of qualified workers at all levels and supply chain issues that also play into cost escalations for materials, he says.
Significant project starts in the metro area include the National Medal of Honor Museum, the Crescent Holdings headquarters office complex and hotel, the Cooks Children’s Hospital and Harris Methodist Hospital additions, large industrial and warehousing contracts and several K-12 and higher education projects.
“The Fort Worth market will continue to be strong in both the private and public markets sectors even though we may face some economic headwinds over the next six to 12 months,” he says. “There are several major projects on the drawing boards that will keep our Fort Worth construction industry moving forward.”
