In Little Rock, for the most part, members of the state AGC chapter are staying busy as the local economy remains positive, thanks to steady business growth and increases in government spending, says Price.
The Little Rock construction market has been “pretty steady” with “owners staying fairly busy,” he says, noting that building project owners lately seem to be favoring new construction over renovation efforts.
Two major hospital projects currently under construction in Little Rock and Denton are keeping contractors busy, too, he says. Two major highway projects in Little Rock also are boosting the area’s construction market. Infrastructure work should stay apace as well thanks to both increased federal funding and approval by voters earlier this year of continuing a 1-cent tax to fund state highway projects.
As a result of that 1-cent tax, Price says the next few years “are going to be pretty good-size years for highway lettings here in the state. So it’s looking really good as far as we’re concerned.”
