Liquefied natural gas export terminal developer Venture Global said roof-raising was completed ahead of schedule late last month for the first of four storage tanks being built by contractor McDermott at the Plaquemines site in Plaquemines Parish, La., which is set to open in 2024.
Work on the tank, which will store 200,000 cu m, finished nine months after the developer's final investment decision on the site, it said. The 294-ft-dia roof weighs 900 tons.
Zachry Group and KBR are building the project’s first phase, set to export 10 million tons per year. Venture Global did not disclose the project construction cost but said it closed in 2022 on $13.2 billion in financing for the phase and pipelines.
