The Mount Desert Island Regional School System is planning to build a new Bar Harbor Elementary School. It has been designed by Harriman Architects + Engineers. NEVADA/IDAHO

LS Power is planning to construct the Southwest Intertie Project North, a 275-mile-long 500-kV power transmission line, between Midpoint substation in Jerome County, Idaho, and the Robinson Summit substation in Ely, Nevada. NEW YORK

Tishman Speyer is planning to build Edgemere Commons Building B2 at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 53rd Street in the Edgemere neighborhood of Queens County. The 19-story, 276,000-sq-ft building will contain 246 residential units, 7,000 sq ft of commercial space and 45,000 sq ft of parking space. It is being designed by Aufgang Architects LLC. OKLAHOMA

The City of Oklahoma City is planning to construct a new Fairgrounds Coliseum. The two-story, 216,164-sq-ft building will contain 7,000 seats and include equestrian facilities. The project also includes the demolition of the existing Norick Arena. It is being designed by Populous, and Flintco LLC has been selected as the general contractor. PENNSYLVANIA

72 Steel and Aluminum Work Inc. is planning to construct a steel manufacturing plant on a 44-acre site in Aliquippa formerly occupied by Jones & Laughlin/LTV Steel. The complex will include an electric-arc furnace to melt scrap steel and produce 500,000 tons of rebar annually. Construction is expected to begin in June 2024. WASHINGTON

King County is planning to carry out the Lower Duwamish Waterway Sediment Cleanup Project. The project entails excavating more than 193 million gallons of heavily contaminated soil, sand and other sediment from about 99 acres of the river bottom, treating 12 acres under docks and piers, capping another 7 acres near the shore with clean soil, and treating 3 acres through “enhanced natural recovery.” Another 36 acres will undergo “monitored natural recovery” where there will be no dredging or capping. This is a Superfund site. The EPA anticipates issuing its decision in spring 2024, and construction could begin as soon as 2026. The project is valued at $290 million. Aventon Companies, the developer and general contractor, has started building the Mikasa Apartments on Clements Ferry Road in Charleston. The complex will include six 4-story buildings, totaling 400,000 sq ft, and contain 336 apartments, a clubhouse and 504 parking spaces. It was designed by Scott + Cormia Architecture. WISCONSIN

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded an $8.6-million firm-fixed-price contract to Dubuque Barge and Fleeting Service Co., doing business as Newt Marine Service, to construct an island in the Mississippi River at Bay City, in order to increase floodplain forest and fish overwintering areas.
