The City of Aspen is planning to build the Lumberyard affordable housing development on an 11.3-acre site next to the Airport Business Center. It will include three 4-story buildings containing a total of 277 apartments, underground and surface parking, community gathering spaces for residents, new public streets and pedestrian and bike trails. MAINE
Central Maine Power and Avangrid Renewables are planning to carry out a power line upgrade project. The project entails upgrades to section 80, a 115-kV, 150-mile transmission line between Coopers Mills substation in Windsor and the Highland substation in Warren. MARYLAND
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is planning to construct the Metrorail Heavy Repair and Overhaul Facility in Landover. The project’s scope of work will include demolition of an existing structure, site preparation and construction of the 340,000-sq-ft maintenance building and a 560-space parking garage. It is being designed by Stantec, and Hensel Phelps has been selected as the general contractor. The project is valued at $300 million. NEBRASKA
The City of Omaha Libraries is planning to develop a new central public library at 72nd and Dodge Street. The project entails construction of a 96,000-sq-ft library building with a two-level parking garage. The existing building that is currently on the site will be integrated into the new building. HDR is the lead designer. Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture will handle library programming and interior space design. Kiewit Corp. has been chosen as the general contractor. American Airlines is planning to build a maintenance base in Tulsa. The project entails constructing a 193,000-sq-ft wide-body aircraft hangar, a 132,000-sq-ft base support building, and renovating 3.3 million sq ft of existing hangar and shop space. The two new buildings are being designed by Frankfurt Short Bruza. The project is valued at $525 million. WASHINGTON
King County is planning to upgrade the Elliott West Wet Weather Treatment Station in Seattle. The project includes upgrades to screens, treatment and disinfection facilities at the 240-million-gallon-per-day peak flow facility. C.D. Smith has started building the Bakers Place Apartment Buildings at 849 E. Washington Ave. in Madison. 9/27 New Jersey Transit is requesting proposals for engineering services for the replacement of the Brielle Drawbridge in Monmouth County. The project will entail designing a replacement for the existing drawbridge, which carries the North Jersey Coast Line across the Manasquan River, between the towns of Brielle and Point Pleasant Beach.
