Allotrope Cellulosic Development Co., a partnership between Allotrope Partners, Axens and Sumitomo Corp. of Americas, is considering constructing a cellulosic ethanol plant at an undisclosed site in California. The project scope includes construction of equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of biomass receiving, handling and pretreatment, biocatalysts production, hydrolysis, fermentation and products recovery equipment. The plant will have the capacity to produce 60,000 tons of cellulosic ethanol per year using forest thinning materials and agricultural residues as feedstock. Axens will provide process technology. INDIANA
King’s Hawaiian Holding Co. is considering constructing a food and beverage production facility on a 90-acre site in Edinburgh. The phased project scope includes construction of a 368,000-sq-ft food production building, 78,000-sq-ft cold storage building and 86,000-sq-ft beverage production building; and purchase and installation of storage silos, stainless steel piping, ovens, automated conveyors, freezers and refrigeration, ingredient storage and mixing, blending and packaging equipment. Foresite Group LLC has been selected to provide civil engineering services for the project and Atlas Collaborative LLC has been selected to provide architectural design services for the buildings. The company produces sweet rolls, sliced bread, hamburger buns, condiments and herbal tea products. The estimated EPC cost is $180 million. WASHINGTON
Drax Group plc is planning to construct a wood pellet manufacturing plant and terminal in Longview. The project scope includes construction of building space, storage silos/domes; and purchase and installation of baghouses, hammer mills, pellet mills, pelletizer units, conveyors, process filtration, temperature monitoring, finished pellet storage and ship-loading equipment. The plant will have the capacity to produce 450,000 tons of wood pellets per year. Construction is expected to begin in late 2023 or early 2024. The estimated EPC cost is $350 million.
