Originally built more than 10 years ago, the Air France Lounge at the San Francisco International Airport was in need of a refresh to better align with client needs. This six-month effort that concluded in May 2023 expanded the lounge to approximately 6,000 sq ft and includes a catering kitchen, full-service bar, restrooms, showers, lounge area, dining area and dedicated VIP rooms.
Although the design was completed prior to worldwide closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, when the project resumed, the original designers were no longer with Air France or the design team. This caused stakeholders and vendors to be out of sync and resulted in extended submittal and RFI reviews. To fill the gap in communication, the project team led regular site visits monthly with the Air France project manager and designer as well as with the architects of record, creating effective in-field coordination, quicker responses and more efficient problem-solving.
