Two prototype middle and high schools each accommodate 1,500 students, while planned additions will allow for another 300 students at both campuses. This $255.8-million project saw both schools built simultaneously on two separate sites. Litigation caused by bond language phrasing resulted in a three-year delay as work could not begin until bond funds were available. Despite the delay, the contractor completed both schools on time and on budget in July 2022, with the district saving an estimated 2% to 3% by awarding both projects to Adolfson & Peterson under a CM/GC delivery.

The Wellington school spans 250,000 sq ft on a 90-acre site, and the Timnath school and district stadium spans 252,000 sq ft on a 115-acre site. Both schools utilize individual geothermal systems. The contractor quickly determined that by staggering the two schedules by six months, lessons learned at one building could be applied to the second. Key trade partners could use the same team to complete work, constructibility concerns could be resolved and the design team could produce better construction documents.
