This brewery expansion significantly increases production capacity and transforms the existing facility—which makes beer primarily imported to the U.S.—into one that has an automated, state-of-the-art production line. Construction included multiple new buildings and expansion of rail lines and water and wastewater plants. The multiple infrastructure projects, including roadways, also significantly improved surrounding residents’ safety and quality of life, the team says.

Around 70% of the 4,200-strong workforce hailed from Mexico. Except for a brief closure early on, the project continued work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, becoming an economic engine as the area’s largest employer. Many workers were originally unfamiliar with safe work practices and advanced construction methods. The team implemented multiple safety trainings and provided new tools and techniques with hands-on oversight that workers can use on future work.
