The El Cerrito Multifamily Housing facility is the largest steel modular construction project on the West Coast. When completed, it will offer 172 homes above parking and a ground floor health clinic operated by Family Health Centers of San Diego.
“For this particular shot, the angle and frame had to be considered,” Heppting says, explaining that his team liked that the photo shows the scale and complexity of the project. “We used a telephoto lens to capture the scene from the ground and needed to maneuver around crew members as well as construction equipment.”
Heppting, a photographer with Banner Mountain media, was hired by project designer LPA Design Studios to document the installation of the top floor of modules. He captured this image of the placement of a shipping container customized into a residential unit this summer using a Sony a7 IV camera with a Sony Gmaster 70-200mm 2.8f lens.
