On April 5, the Colburn School celebrated the groundbreaking of a 100,000-sq-ft expansion designed by Frank Gehry. Dubbed the Colburn Center, the new building will be located adjacent to Colburn’s Grand Avenue campus. The ceremony took place adjacent to the construction site at 130 Olive St.
This expansion will house performance venues and learning spaces. It will feature a 1,000-seat concert hall named for Terri and Jerry Kohl. In addition to becoming the future home of the Colburn Orchestra, the concert hall—which will be the only mid-size hall in downtown Los Angeles—will provide flexible configurations to accommodate a full orchestra, operas and large musical theater productions.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento held its annual Women Build event across several weeks in March. Hundreds of women from across the region volunteered to help address the housing and community crisis affecting families in Sacramento and Yolo counties.
The 2024 project took place at a new affordable housing community in south Sacramento called Cornerstone. The development includes 18 single family homes that were built across more than 500 hours by volunteers and future residents.
Teichert’s Women in Operations group (pictured at left) participated in the effort by installing drainage systems for this growing community. The Teichert team utilized its equipment and resources to dig and backfill trenches, move dirt, place river rock for several homes and dig holes for fence posts.
