The Army has named a new senior Corps of Engineers officer to lead the Corps' civil works and emergency response activities.
The Army on May 1 announced that Maj. Gen. Jason E. Kelly has been selected to be the Corps' deputy commanding general for civil works and emergency operations.
At present, Kelly is commanding general for the Army's training center at Fort Jackson, S.C., and for the fort itself.
He has held those positions since August, 2022.
His previous assignment was as head of the Corps' South Atlantic Division, headquartered in Atlanta.
Kelly's earlier positions include commanding the Corps' Afghanistan District, from June 2018 to July 2019 and leading its Norfolk District, from July 2015 to through June 2018.
