John Smith

St. Louis-based Alberici Constructors Inc. has named John Smith as executive vice president for construction. Most recently, Smith was vice president and market leader for 17 years. He has orchestrated several highly complex projects including the $500-million Northwest Water Treatment Facility in Wichita, Kan., and the $208-million Meldahl Hydroelectric Plant in Foster, Ky. He serves on the board of trustees for Missouri University of Science & Technology (Missouri S&T) and is the chair of their career development council.

Jeff Lackey was recently promoted to government market sector leader at TranSystems, overseeing department of transportation and municipal client development in the Central and West regions. Lackey has worked for TranSystems for more than 22 years, serving in a variety of operational and sales leadership roles. For the last year, he has been a regional market sector leader. He also has been valuable in the development of the company’s autonomous vehicle initiative in Michigan, Texas, Kansas, South Carolina and Florida. Lackey has served in several leadership positions with the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers, most recently being installed as president-elect. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University.

Chad Allen

Chad Allen has joined HNTB as a transportation asset management practice consultant. Allen will help HNTB’s clients make performance-based, risk-based and data-driven decisions while delivering positive and equitable outcomes for surrounding communities. Allen will be instrumental in developing strategies and frameworks to support asset management and risk management initiatives. Most recently, Allen managed the asset and performance management program at the Seattle Dept. of Transportation. He also previously was director of the asset management bureau at the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

Architectural and engineering firm Schmidt Associates has named Cori Korn to the position of business development representative. In her new role, Korn will engage with central Indiana’s business and community leaders to address their facility design needs and to foster growth and development within communities. Her most recent roles have included serving as the chief of staff for Mayor Steve Collier in the city of Lawrence, Ind., and as the executive director for the Lawrence Township Education Foundation.

Michael Ashwell

St. Louis-based Tarlton Corp., a women-owned general contracting and construction management firm has promoted Michael Trettel to vice president. In his new role, Trettel is overseeing Tarlton’s general contracting, construction management and design-build projects and its work in key market sectors including energy, industrial, civil and infrastructure as well as concrete construction, restoration and maintenance. In addition, Michael Ashwell has joined Tarlton as director of the special projects group, a specialized team that partners with clients in master service agreements to provide a range of solutions and delivery systems across diverse market sectors.

Colleen Stuber-Zukanovic

Engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger has welcomed Colleen Stuber-Zukanovic as project director in the firm’s building enclosure consulting practice. She joins SGH’s building technology division in Chicago, partnering with SGH team members and clients across the Midwest.

Stuber-Zukanovic brings nearly fifteen years of design and construction experience as an architect, specializing in building enclosure design consulting for new and existing buildings, as well as building enclosure commissioning (BECx) services for enhanced sustainability and performance.
