Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently announced the appointment of John Herrera to president of the firm’s Mountain States region, which includes Colorado and Wyoming. He succeeds Thomas “Tommy” Horsting, who is retiring from the position after 40 years at the firm. Herrera began his career as a field laborer in 1992 and has risen through the ranks, serving as vice president of field operations since 2018. He now will lead more than 300 regional employees.
Javier Sevilla Roca is the new CEO of Flatiron after having served as president and chief operating officer. He joined the Broomfield, Colo.-based construction company in 2013. Roca had been CEO of Pulice Construction, a heavy civil general engineering contractor and construction management firm. Also working formerly for global contractor Dragados, he was a district manager in Spain. Flatiron, a unit of Germany-based contractor Hochtief AG, did not specify how Roca’s former roles would be filled.
Eric Kesti has been named vice president and general manager of Brinkman Construction’s Denver office. He most recently served as special projects division manager for Turner Construction Co. and previously held leadership roles at Kiewit Building Group. Kesti is involved in the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., serving on its executive committee and board of governors.
Scott Roux has joined HNTB Corp. as national bridge practice leader and senior vice president. He brings more than two decades of experience in leading design, construction and inspection of complex bridge projects, the firm says. Roux is a past board member for the American Council of Engineering Cos. in Washington state.
Saunders Construction has appointed Brian Archibald to the role of chief financial officer. He has 17 years of experience in accounting and finance in construction, software, renewable energy and other industries.
Chris Strawn has been promoted to vice president for civil engineering at Ware Malcomb. He has more than 25 years of experience in project management, site planning and development and entitlement procurement. In his 10 years at Ware Malcomb, Strawn has been instrumental in business development and engineering team oversight. Prior to joining the firm, he ran a Denver-based civil engineering firm for more than 10 years.
POWER Engineers Inc. has named Brad Hennessey to head its government services division. Most recently, he was director of the firm’s distribution services business unit in its power delivery group. POWER also named Jack Roper as business unit director for its food and beverage group. He joined the company in 2003 following its purchase of sector specialist Blue Chip Engineering. Roper has held leadership roles that include manager of Power’s facilities electrical and controls department.
Ying Shang has been named dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She was dean of Talwar College of Engineering and Computer Sciences and an electrical engineering professor at Indiana Institute of Technology. During her tenure, she led the $21.4-million Zollner Engineering Center expansion and renovation. Shang is also founder and president of Shining Innovation, a consulting engineer and research firm in electric vehicle battery integration and energy storage. She is a board member for the American Council on Education Women’s Network of Indiana.
