Engineering, environment and professional services firm WSP has announced that Steve Blazek, Tim Langer and Sean Berry, all formerly with the U.S. Dept. of Energy, have joined the firm to help clients mitigate risks, deliver faster results and reduce costs. Blazek and Langer join the Denver office, and Berry is in Phoenix.
Chris Strawn has been promoted to vice president of civil engineering at Ware Malcomb. In this role, he oversees the firm’s land development civil engineering practice and leads the expansion of its civil services across the Americas. Prior to joining Ware Malcolm, Strawn ran a Denver-based civil engineering firm for more than 10 years.
Englewood, Colo.-based engineering and construction program and project management firm LS Gallegos has been sold by founder Lawrence Gallegos to company executives Kelly Angel, president; Melanie Urso, chief operating officer; and Seth Joraanstad, chief financial officer. Gallegos will continue as president emeritus to support the transition and continued growth of the company.
Kimberly Watanabe has joined HNTB as senior project manager. She oversees engineering and aviation project management strategies from the firm’s Denver office. Before joining HNTB, Watanabe spent a decade working as the airside engineering supervisor for Denver International Airport. Most recently, she helped develop and lead the airside capital improvements program, optimizing federal grants for efficient resource utilization while prioritizing safety at the airport.
Civil engineer Riley Dvorak has joined the Concrete Masonry Checkoff organization as its national design technical director. Dvorak spent more than a decade at Rinker Materials, a manufacturer of reinforced concrete products.
Neenan Archistruction has elevated longtime leader Bill Pigg to the role of president. In addition, David Shigekane, the company’s former president of 10 years, has been appointed as CEO of the company. Pigg’s 27-year tenure at Neenan Archistruction has included roles as preconstruction manager, project executive, chief operating officer and vice president.
Topcon Positioning Systems’ president and chief executive officer, Ray O’Connor, will retire in September 2025 and transition to the role of chairman of the firm’s board of directors. Succeeding O’Connor as president and CEO is Ivan Di Federico, who currently serves as the executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Topcon.
Erika Moody, president of Helix Architecture + Design, was recently inaugurated as 2024-2025 president of the International Interior Design Association’s board of directors.
Howell Construction has promoted Tom Nelson to project manager and Tyler Pak to project manager/assistant project manager. Nelson graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in construction management. Pak graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in civil engineering.
