Hannah Gott snapped this intriguing photo—which she calls “Lunchtime on the Jump System”—at the ongoing Houston Ship Channel Bridge project in Channelview, Texas. Gott, a field engineer for Ship Channel Constructors—a joint venture between Traylor Bros. and Zachry Construction—says she likes to periodically document progress on the estimated $1.3-billion project from the approach deck, which is her favorite spot for capturing ongoing activity.
“In this photo, the south pylon [foreground] is about to begin preparations to jump to the next lift, [and] the north pylon [background] has begun setting forms on the east pylon leg,” Gott explains. “I like how from this vantage point you can see both pylons. Given that the north pylon’s schedule is staggered slightly behind the south pylon, you can see the sequence of work performed.”
