Flash flooding in spring 2023 created severe drainage issues and washed out two existing crossings on SR-322. In this emergency repair, the contractor raised the road profile and installed 48-in. and 36-in. reinforced concrete pipe at multiple sites, including near Eagle Valley Resort and reservoir. These interventions redirected water flow and will help prevent future flooding.
After assembling a workforce and securing worker lodging in just one week, the team quickly mobilized. Despite the challenge of working with multiple vendors to speed deliveries, the project team completed the project a day ahead of schedule.
Being an emergency project, there weren’t any design plans. The contractor leveraged cutting-edge survey technology to meticulously map out the project’s intricacies and construct a comprehensive model that served as a blueprint for precision and efficiency.
To mitigate the project’s impact on vital traffic routes, the team built a bypass road. This solution facilitated uninterrupted access to properties situated above the work site, ensuring the flow of essential traffic and alleviating pressure on local infrastructure.
Completed in just two weeks, this nearly $800,000 emergency installation project ensured immediate safety and accessibility for the surge of travelers over Memorial Day weekend 2023 while also providing a lasting solution for protecting the roadway.
