Supported by a three-story steel frame and concrete shear wall structure, this 96,000-sq-ft temple features ornamental glass windows with likenesses of local flora and architectural precast panels on the exterior. Given poor soil conditions and a high water table, the design team conducted extensive geotechnical investigations and designed a deep foundation system that would support the temple, prevent settlement and withstand earthquakes. The solution included extensive soil import and replacement, geogrid installation along with drilled stone piers and grade beams.
Coordinating the structural concrete proved to be another challenge. Scope included 20-ft to 26-ft-tall foundation walls and eight 80-ft-tall vertical concrete shear walls above grade on all sides. Early collaboration was essential to address steel and precast concrete connections, ensuring alignment and preventing delays. Meanwhile, the design team had to source and design an architectural precast concrete exterior that met high standards for seismic performance, thermal efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Sequencing work helped maintain the schedule, saved on costs and ensured seamless installation for an on time delivery in May 2023.
