Spanning 138,000 sq ft, this state-of-the-art fluid milk facility is the first vertically integrated Class 1 and Class 2 dairy processing plant in the state of Idaho, meaning it has the capacity to process and package products in one location.
Tilt-up concrete panels, insulated metal panels and conventional steel construction comprise the facility’s structure. Features include 14,953 sq ft of dry warehouse space, 13,789 sq ft of cool warehouse space, a large palletizing and packing room, raw and pasteurized milk processing spaces, production corridor, milk receiving spaces and employee support areas.
With a tight schedule of about a year to complete design and construction, long lead times on equipment and specialty materials posed a significant obstacle. To mitigate this risk, the team adopted a proactive approach, leveraging its networks of suppliers and manufacturers to expedite deliveries critical to the project’s success.
Contingency plans addressed potential delays, and these actions ultimately led to the plant being ready for the owners to begin receiving milk for a test run in December, five months before the expected completion date in May.
