Urbix Inc. is planning to construct a coated spherical purified graphite (CSPG) plant in Muscle Shoals. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of storage silos and crushing, spheronization, purification, coating, heat treatment, cooling and packaging equipment and systems. The plant will have the capacity to produce 10,000 metric tons of CSPG per year for use as anode material in lithium-ion batteries. MICHIGAN
Cabot Corp. is planning to establish a conductive additives plant in Van Buren Township. Scope includes design and construction or upfit of building space; purchase and erection of structural steel; installation of storage tanks, process vessels, reactors, and mixing, separation, filling, drying, flow control and metering equipment and systems. The plant will have the capacity to produce 12,000 metric tons of conductive additive dispersions per year and 1,000 metric tons of battery-grade carbon nanotubes per year for use in lithium-ion battery electrodes. WYOMING
Wyoming Rare Inc. is planning to construct a rare earth elements (REE) open-pit mine and processing plant in Albany County, and a REE refinery near Wheatland. The Halleck Creek Wyoming project scope includes construction of a wastewater treatment plant, multiple buildings and equipment foundations; and purchase and installation of a comminution circuit with high-pressure grinding rolls and gravity or density separation, wet high intensity magnetic separation, ion exchange, solvent extraction and tailings management equipment and systems. The refinery will have the capacity to process 3 million metric tons per year of REE material over a 20-year mine life. A construction schedule will be developed following receipt of funding.
